Ryo looked at the shard, amazed he'd helped make it. "I... Think so?" He thought a moment, trying to suss out the differences. "How did you manage to freeze it?"

"Everything's in that book," Yuki said. "You see, when molecules can no longer move, that's called 'absolute zero.' It's negative 270 degrees. By manipulating the sound frequencies so high that the concusive wave is reduced to zero, it mimics the effects of absolute zero and, wallah, ice..." He doubted Ryo understood the physics behind it... but he would...

Ryo blinked blankly, trying to understand what Yuki was talking about, but just not quite getting it. "Uh..." He frowned, thinking about it. "the sounds makes it really.. really cold?" He glanced back at the book. He'd have to read it but he wasn't even sure he'd be able to it it had big words like Yuki was using.

"High school physics isn't quite enough to let you know how it works, you'd need some university to really get it... but... The book will help. When it doesn't, I'll try to explain. Try the book first though."
Yuki formed a long stick of ice in his hand and started to draw on the ground. It was a simple chart with a sound wave illustrated as a systematic rise and fall. He explained as he drew. "This is the time it takes for sound to travel, and this is the frequency of the sound waves... This is a normal sound wave..."
He drew another one, and rather than advancing along the diagram's time axis, Yuki drew a good many sharp points of the frequency without moving along the time zone. "This is what you have to make your frequency like in order to freeze things..."

"Thats what I'm doing when I do that yell with the chakra? Making these kinda waves?" He pointed to the diagrams, trying to grasp concepts that were well beyond his ability at this point.

Yuki nodded. "You can't see it... but yes..." Yuki drew a few more diagrams trying to explain the ripple effect, air molecules, concussive waves, contact waves, and litterally how sound moved through the air, and tried to basically give him a lecture in physics of accoustics and wave form travel...

Ryo tried to take it all in but most of everything went over his head. "I need to know this all to be able to do the cool ice breathing trick?" That was a -very- daunting prospect.

"No," Yuki said giving him a little hope. "But it will make you better at it if you do..."
Yuki set the stick against a tree. "Ok... Try again. This time, I want you to try and implement the high frequency to freeze the liquified air as well... I'm not helping you this time..."

He had to gulp back his uncertainly and try to do what Yuki had been trying to explain. When he tried, Ryo managed to create some of the vibrations, but not the shard of ice that Yuki had created before.

As Yuki said... he didn't help, but when Ryo failed. He still looked pleased with the attempt. "Don't stop now, you're half way there," he said leaning against the tree and letting Ryo continue to practice. He'd let him wear himself out, or achive it before he offered any more advice...

"Right... Again..." Ryo would close his eyes to focus and channel the chakra and alter the sound waves. When he cracked his eyes and didn't see the ice crystals he'd take a deep breath and try again. It wasn't too long before he started feeling the effects of all his exertion... but he couldn't give up yet.

Yuki let him push himself to his limit. It was good for both of them to know where that limit was. And the more he watched, the more he would be able to give advice on later... "I'm glad there's at least one ninja in this village who isn't weak," he praised Ryo. "Most would have given up by now, so low on chakra..."

Ryo was panting, glancing at Yuki before trying again, not familiar with the concept of being low on chakra. "Low...?" He closed his eyes and tried one land time before falling down into a sit, feeling frustrated at himself. "Daw, I can't do it!" He frowned and huffed, tired and not entirely sure why he was so tired for having just stood there.

"That's what I mean 'low,'" Yuki said with a laugh, and went into an explanation of chakra levels and how they worked.
"You did good. Keep practicing, and I'll see you back here this time next week." Yuki started to walk away...

"W..wait..." Ryo managed to pick himself up and get to his feet again. "You want me to keep doing this all week?"
