Suoh smiled sadly ad looked down at his hand. "There are different types of bad people, kid. When you get older, you'll see them. Hopefully Oki will take good enough care of you to keep some of them away from you. Just because I didn't hurt you doesn't make me a good man. I've hurt people with this hand. I've killed people. And I've hurt people without lifting so much as a finger, which was worse, because those wounds are probably going to leave some deep scars."

Sighing lightly Kira didn't understand why Suoh didn't did see things like her mother taught her too. She wasn't dumb, she knew that people did bad things, even she did before but that didn't make them bad people.
Scars heal though...
Almost like a flash in her mind, she had a mental image of her mother's face before she died. There was a light smile on her lips, and only a tear or two down her face while Kira herself knew she had cried enough to fill rivers that night. Sometimes she she's lonely Kira would bring up the image of her mother's smile to make her feel loved again, knowing that her mother could die happy with her.
Almost to soft to be heard Kira spoke again
And death always happens... sometimes it's not a bad thing...

Suoh wondered how much death this girl had seen. He still remembered, very vividly, the bloated bodies of the villagers from his childhood, remembered the way the men had hauled their mangled remains onto rafts and then lowered them into the sea. Death had never been pretty for Suoh, had never been neat and tidy. It was violent, and it was ugly, and it did happen. Sometimes it was even necessary. But he didn't like to dwell on it.
"Hey, I think Oki's got some chocolate milk in the fridge. You want some? I've got no idea when she'll be back, and I'd hate to see it go bad before she does."

Blinking while shaking her head, Kira smiled and nodded her head. She loved chocolate but knew that it would only anger her father to keep it in the house, but what he knew wouldn't hurt her.
Yes, please

Suoh nodded and walked away toward one of the cupboard, pulling down a large plastic cup and filling from the carton in the fridge. At least his distraction had worked; Kira was no long trying to tell him he was a good man. He handed her the drink.

Smiling brightly at the thought of having chocolate again Kira reached out. Using her good hand she held the glass while using her lower arm to stable it. Bowing her head slightly in thanks she brought it to her lips and drank a small bit of the milk, closing her eyes and humming happily from the taste.

"There's more if you want it," Suoh said, leaning against the counter. He didn't know what else to do. Shouldn't the kid be wanting to leave and go home by now? He wasn't about to drive her out, but he had no idea how to entertain her!

Giggling, Kira began to swing her lags back and forth, her feet not even coming close to the floor. She continued to hum one of the few songs she knew, drinking her milk in pure bliss. It was a bit tricky for her to keep her left hand away from the glass but worth it to taste chocolate again. When she was about halfway done of the milk she just started to notice that there was a world outside of her chocolate bliss. Blushing she smiled while continuing to drink the milk, her humming continuing while swinging her feet.

Suoh listened to her hum for a while before walking away from the counter again. This time, he made his way over to the couch and picked up his abandoned guitar and sat down. He didn't know the song Kira was humming, but that didn't stop him from picking out a melody to accompany it.

Kira was finishing her milk happily when she heard the guitar playing, blinking she stopped humming and listened to make sure she wasn't hearing things. Placing the cup on the counter beside her, Kira used her good arm as leverage while she pushed herself down off of the counter. Once she was down she picked up the cup and put it in the sick, filling it with water to rinse it out so that there was no left over milk inside of it.
Making her way back over to Suoh she sat down on the floor infront of him, curling her knees up to her check and holding them there with her good hand/arm. Her eyes staid on his fingers, trying to memorize how they moved to make the music.

Suoh watched her calmly, but continued to play even after she had stopped humming. Without anything to guide the music, his fingers simply teased and coaxed the string to bring to life a rich, complicated melody. If the instrument could sing, it would have done so under his skilled fingers as they moves quickly and intricately along the neck and across the strings.

Kira was fascinated by how the guitar made music. Sure she knew what one did but she hasn't really seen one before now, after all her mother preferred singing to her and as far as she knew didn't know how to play anything. After another moment of watching Suoh play, Kira closed her eyes and smiled softly while swaying softly. Music had always made her feel whole, be it something she heard or something she made up, music was calming to her.

The tempo slowed as Suoh played, falling into a sweet, simple melody. He played this song for Oki, had ben teaching her the lyrics. Kira seemed to be enjoying his playing, so he decided perhaps he could sing for her as well; his voice wasn't unpleasant. If he had traine dit, it would have been a finer tenor, but it still bore the hallmarks of a novice.
"When the sun sets over cherry blossom skies And the twilight fills the air You can see the snow on the mountaintops Through the veil of old Japan… On an island lead by all the ancient ways Just a million miles from here And yet it seems like only yesterday That her song rang out so clear…
Sister of the seas Wrapped in silken robes Waves are falling at her feet… Play your haunted songs to charm the dragon king, Winds are calling out your name…
And the times ran fast, further from that place But somehow we are still here You can hear her song calling on the waves Through the veil of old Japan…
Sister of the seas Wrapped in silken robes Waves are falling at her feet… Play your haunted songs to charm the dragon king, Winds are calling out your name…
When the sun sets over cherry blossom skies And the twilight fills the air You can see the snow on the mountaintops Through the veil of old Japan…. Through the veil of old Japan will appear our Benzai-ten…"

With her eyes closed, Kira listened to the song being sung. Her mind picked up the images the story was telling and played them before her mind. Breathing softly, Kira loved the song, it sounding like a prayer to her. Once it was over Kira slowly opened her eyes and smiled gently at Suoh, her voice only a whisper
Beautiful...

"Thanks," he smiled, still picking idly at the guitar. "I learned that one a long time ago; I've been trying to teach it to Oki, to see if it helps to bring her around a little bit. I think she's just humoring me, likes to listen to me play."
