Oki nodded. "I don't recognize the name Kaliri, but I know what you mean. You two must have arrived here after I had already left."

Lenore pondered for a moment. "Kaliri's family is originally from here, I think. She was already here when I arrived. But mine is a little bit different a situation than hers, I daresay." She picked up a small stone and stared at it for a moment before tossing it across the water. It skipped twice before falling beneath the surface of the water, only the ripples testifying to the passage.

"You were a wanderer too?"

Lenore ran her tongue over her teeth in thought. It wasn't something she normally spoke of. But allies, or even acting sentries, couldn't hurt, not in light of recent events.
"In a way, I suppose. I've been hunting my sister for several years now. Her path brought me near this place, and in a skirmish, I was injured. I came here, and found someone willing to take me in while I healed up. I've been in and out of these lands ever since, but this is, I suppose you could say, my base of operations."

Oki nodded thoughtfully. "So you're still hunting, then? Is your sister even still in the area after such a long time?"

Lenore smiled ruefully, her hand brushing absently across her thigh.
"Oh, she's around. She threw her lot and that of her men in behind the snake man. Yuki said he died, but I've seen her lingering in the area. I don't know what she's doing now, but I can bet she's up to no good." The hand on her thigh shifted up to her pouch, resting there only long enough to feel that the kunai were still safely in place before falling limp at her side again.

"Snake man? Dead? You mean Orochimaru? He is dead, all accounts agree on that one, but some of his followers are still at large. I mean, he had founded the entire Sound village, after all. But they've all been very quiet without their master, a lot of them didn't believe he'd died and went looking for him. Perhaps that's what your sister is doing now? If that's the case, it would be the perfect time to find her, while she's preoccupied with other matters."

Lenore considered the possibility and immediately conceded to point. "Perhaps." She admitted. "I certainly hope so. I've chased her across so many lands and countries that now I'm beginning to wonder how long I've been away. Perhaps I've misjudged. When I look at the maps in the libraries here, I see that there is little possible way we could have traveled to the places I think we have in so few years. But if she has been in this area long enough, perhaps something has taken hold of her attention. It is possible se would be distracted enough for me to finally end her." She thought for another moment, then frowned, the light and carefree attitude melting away under the cloud of gloom the subject matter brought with it. She absently brought the black ribbon up, tying her long hair back from her face. When her hands fell, she spoke again.
"I am conflicted on which I would hope for more. That she would choose to stay and give me the opening I feel i deserve, or whether I prefer she leave at once, away from the people I've come to care about. She's already done more than enough damage to justify that desire."
Quietly, Lenore rested her hands on her hips, and gazed down into the water. Catching her reflection, she brought one hand up to her face, tracing the line of her jaw. her eyes became introverted for what seemed a long moment, and while she was isolated from the world around her, the touch seemed almost affectionate. The ghost of a smile played over her lips, before the cloud descended again. She dragged her thumbnail roughly across her chin as her eyes hardened. Wrinkling her nose, she kicked at a rock at the water's edge, sending it tumbling beneath the surface and obscuring the image. She calmed her features almost immediately, and turned back to Oki, her hands shoved into her pockets.
