At first, between the breaks, the strains, pulled muscles and tendons, and the wound in her back, the hospital bed and the attention of the medical ninjas had been welcome. Oki wasn't sure how long out of those first two days that she had spent sleeping, but she was pretty sure it was most of them. Now, however, she was getting antsy.
She tossed the book she had been reading, provided by one of the nurses, onto the table beside her bed in frustration. "Chick" stories had never been her thing, so she could only manage this book in small doses. She had had enough of it for the time being, thank you very much, and now lay staring up at the ceiling, her mind pleasantly blank.

Yuki picked up the book - no doubt Oki hadn't heard him come in - he hadn't meant for her to. "If it's that bad, why do you bother reading it?" he asked from his position in the chair beside the bed. Like Yuki, there was also a bear holding a small bouquet of un-wilted orchids on her beside table that had appeared from no where...

Oki jumped, startled when Yuki spoke. She winced, swapped at Yuki lightly and then winced again. Moving still wasn't anything she could describe as comfortable.
"Do you go out of your way to try and give me a heart attack?" she laughed. "I'd say I'd get you a bell if I thought it would make any difference, but I'm sure you'd find some way not to make any noise with that either."
She noticed the bear and the flowers and smiled. "Thanks, Yuki. How did your report go over?"

Yuki laughed at the swat. "It said family only, and I didn't think I'd be fooling anyone in this town by saying you were my wife," he said and smiled over at her, thumbing through the book and pretending to be interested...
He wooshed out air, putting the book back down. "It's done at least... On the plus side, I did it well enough to earn you credit for an A rank mission on your file... Which Tsunade recovered, by the way..."

"Really?" Oki said with surprise, more in regards to the credit than the recovery of her file. "I thought for sure I was going to have my ass handed to me for nearly blowing the mission and telling off Chie's father! I guess it didn't go as badly as I thought it had."
She looked back at the book and smirked. "One of the nurses left it for me to read, but it's not my thing. One of those mothers-and-daughters-discovering-themselves-in-each-other things, blech," Oki pretended to gag. "Give me something with monsters and fangs any day over this touchy-feely stuff."

Yuki smiled. "Blowing off the mission? Are you kidding? Letting them go and being willing to leave a false trail never crossed your mind for a second... All part of your plan to convince them to trust you and come back without a fuss..." Yuki smiled, rather impressed with his cover story...
"I can get you a marvel comic in the lobby," he offered with a little chuckle at Oki's reading preference..." He was more than willing to, or to go to the library for her if she asked for a novel... But he looked like he had something else on his mind as well...

"Thanks for covering my ass, Yuki. I owe you one for that. And for playing professor, too. But what else is up? I doubt you came here just to tell me about the credit and that Tsunade got my file back."

"Maybe I just wanted to see how my wife was doing durring her hospital stay?" But the joke died before it was told, and he nodded that she was right.
"The ribbon, at the shrine... I was talking to Ikihane, he didn't think it was either of the sand nins either... said you didn't seem to think it was as well..." He removed his sunglasses and looked at her. "Did you see anything else up there at all Oki?"

"I never got a chance to go back up there to look, Yuki. I thought that was something that we'd do once we got Clai and Chie taken care of. After the fight with those sand nins, I was lucky I was thinking at all and Clai's teammates were in such rough shape. We just came right back here." Oki reached out to take his hand and gave it a squeeze. "I'm sorry Yuki."

Yuki nodded. "I didn't find anything either," Yuki said, and reached under her bed, pulling out her backpack that he'd recovered for her, complete with the clothes she'd left at the hot springs... "I didn't see anyone around at all..."

"It had to be someone who knew you'd be there," Oki mused. "I mean, it would have been a strange place for you to be normally. Did you tell anyone where you were going?"

Yuki shook his head. "Tsunade and you... Her father knew..." It wasn't making sense. "I'm running out of enemies in the Sand..."

"Do you have any enemies here?" Oki asked seriously. "If there had been anyone else there from the sand, you'd think they'd have made themselves known to you there instead of allowing you to leave again."

Yuki held his temples and shook his head again. "By running out, I think I mean ran out... And it's not like Orochimaru would have stayed hidden if it was him or one of his goonies..." Yuki sighed. "And no... I don't have any enemies here..."

"Then I'm out of ideas," Oki replied, shaking her head. "It was too precise to have been done randomly."
