Oki bit her lip. She had asked that he not see her until she was ready. And she was a far cry from ready. But she hadn't expected him to drop what he was doing and leave whenever she showed up.
"Thanks for the roses," she called after him. Maybe she could do that right...

Yuki was careful not to drop the block of ice he was carrying. "I just hope they actually brightened your day... I had a feeling you needed something to..."

"Still looking for it, sadly," she admitted. "But the gesture was nice."

Yuki thought for a minute... "Hey... Oki... Wanna help me out? I mean... This thing's going to go off on its own soon... Wanna take it out with one of your water dragons? Save us the trouble of ducking again?" he said holding up the block of ice that seemed to almost shiver like it would rupture just from the movement...

Oki nodded and began her hand seals, closing her eyes while she focused. She wanted to do this differently than usual..
From the pond near by, twin dragons emerged, coiling up and around one another. They were smaller than normal, but they shot toward the ice easily. The first of the dragons struck it directly while the second worked to contain as much of the debris as possible.

The ice blew apart on contact, but Yuki hadn't actually cared about that... He was walking away after avoiding the dragons and explosions by shifting. What he did care about was Oki's spirits. When she opened her eyes again, she would find that, although it was still sunny and warm, it was snowing all around her... Exactly like their first date... Yuki hoped it didn't backfire, but he knew she had loved the snow and absolutely beamed when she'd seen it so many years ago...

Oki smiled and put out her hand, watching the snow fall and begin melting on her skin. She remembered that night, skating on the hotspring... It was the first time she had ever used one of her water jutsus, and she hadn't even used that very well. How was it she could have come so far in one area of her life and not another?
"Thanks," she said softly.

Yuki didn't hear. He was walking away, fighting his every urge to run back to Oki... He could wait until she was ready to see him again... He owed her that at least...

Oki watched him go, angry with herself for letting him go and angry with him for being jointly responsible for putting her in this position. She didn't know what she wanted, she just hated feeling like she was the reason he was leaving. She could feel her chakra rise with her indecision, felt it become uncomfortable. She performed her seals for the summoning quickly, bit her thumb and dropped to her knees when she slammed her hand to the ground. All the while the snow fell gently around her.
A roar, louder and more mature than Kovu's came from the smoke and Mine padded forward before it had a chance to clear. Her calm green eyes took in first Oki and then Yuki. Affectionately she bumped her head to Oki's, then padded sedately after Yuki.

Yuki turned at the roar and then almost jumped out of his skin to see big damned cat coming for him... His hand reached for his katana, but never actually touched it... the cat wasn't coming after him like that... And... It was probably Oki doing this... but still... A damned cat?

Mine paused when she saw Yuki go for the sword. She was keeping a respectful distance between them and she lowered her head to indicate that she meant no harm. She also pointedly avoided Yuki's eyes.

Yuki's head tilted a little and he fully retracted from the hilt of his katana and stood still... He wasn't sure what the hell was going on, but he had goosebumps from it... An odd juxtaposition for someone who wore ice as armor a good portion of the time...

"May I speak with you?" Mine's voice was soft and rich when it came, her tail twitching lightly from side to side. "There seems to a breach between the two of you."

Yuki was skeptical, but if this was what Oki needed... He'd put his fear aside. Yuki sat down on the ground and patted the ground beside him, inviting the cat over, no matter how much his spine wanted to shiver, he didn't let it, but he couldn't control the goose bumps... "I guess you could call the grand canyon a stream too..." he said, hoping he was over estimating how big this 'breach' was...

Mine came forward, but did not settle directly beside Yuki. His discomfort radiated from him in waves, and Mine maintained the distance out of respect. "That's certainly one way of looking at it," she conceded. "Tell me about this one."
Mine lay down, tucking her paws beneath her as her tail swung gracefully forward to wrap around her body. The bangles on her tail clattered softly as she did this, and she kept her eyes focused forward.
