Ryo nodded. "I would like that. It's easier to follow along then reading myself," He admitted looking up at her with a small grin.

Oki nodded and opened to another story at random, shifting lightly in her chair so she could cuddle Ryo closer.

Ryo leaned back easily into her arms. He felt so safe, so relaxed here and now. Also, probably picking up more reading ability then he knew being read to like this. He snuggled back with a lazy smile.

Holding Ryo like this made Oki feel... maternal, although she was glad that this was a Saturday and that the academy was deserted. She had wanted to be held like this, once upon a time, to have someone read to her and just cuddle her. She had almost physically craved the contact, and seemed to sense that Ryo did the same. She kept reading, this particular story about a troll being longer than the last.

Ryo, who was normally fidgety and distracted when dealing with books or lessons that weren't about taijustu was sitting quietly. He was so relaxed that Oki couldn't feel any of the squirming he's usually see in him during class. He make the occasional laugh or squeak at appropriate parts of the story, but not as extreme or excitable as his reactions could be with all his pent up energy.

Oki snuck a look at Ryo from the corner of her eye. "Hey, no falling asleep on me," she teased gently. "You're supposed ot be paying attention."

Ryo grinned up at her with alert eyes. "I am paying attention~" He giggled, nuzzling into her arms more. "I just like sitting here with you."

"It is kind of nice, isn't it?" Oki mused, laughing softly as Ryo squirmed.

Ryo nodded happily. "I like this... I like this a lot." He hadn't even known how much he wanted to be held.

"Good," Oki nodded. "Do you think we should go over some text book reading? You can stay where you are and I can read that to you," she offered, feeling like they should accomplish something productive.

He could stay here? That would be awesome! "Those books could even be interesting with you reading them to me~" They were the books he had to read anyway, all the better that she would be reading them to him.

Oki rolled her eyes, but set aside her paperback and pulled a textbook from the drawer of her desk. Opening it to this week's chapter, she began to read slowly so Ryo could take it in, along with the diagrams on the pages.

Ryo followed along as best he could, asking her to explain words and concepts he wasn't able to quite get. But reading here with her was much better for his understanding then trying to sludge through it himself.

Oki was good at explaining. When Ryo had questions, she set the book and often took up a pencil and doodled her own diagrams and explanations on a pad of paper. She was no artist, but it helped to illustrate her points.

With the extra explanations and attention to things he didn't understand, Ryo was picking up the lessons faster then he had any hope of doing in class. He nodded at her drawings, continuing to ask his questions so he understood what she was trying to teach him.
