Ryo couldn't help but grin at his enthusiasm. "No, but it was about monsters! There was a kid and he ran away from home to an island that was -full- of monsters! He beat them all and got to be their king and had awesome adventures!" He gestured wildly with his hands as he described the tale. "But then he got lonely and went home." Ryo laughed. "Totally should have stayed with the monsters!" Talking about the tale with this man helped Ryo to forget what a struggle reading the book in the first place had been.

Fukurou gave his head a little shake, but it wasn't to the tale, it was to the book Ruu had returned with. "Stephen King," Fukurou said to his owl friends. Ruu didn't like the choice, but Kitsi was already returning, dragging a copy of "It" with him by one of the covers, since it was far too thick to fit in his beak...

"It?" Ryo's curiosity was piqued. "What's that about?"

Fukurou bent, picked up the book, and quickly scanned the rear cover. "Have you ever read a horror story where the villain is a clown?" he asked, his own curiosity very much piqued as well, and he smiled at Ryo to see if he should start this one for the two of them...

"Nope~" Ryo knew this for certain. "I've never read anything like that before!" Ryo returned the others smile, honestly intrigued by the book.

Fukurou didn't wait for them to get seated at the reading table, he began reading...
"The terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years - if it ever did end - began so far as I know or can tell, with a boat made from a sheet of newspaper floating down a gutter swollen with rain..." He was a very annimated reader, and gave subtle tones and accents to each word that almost darkened the lights around them so the picture could become more vivid just in his words - and that was only one sentance. He looked at the boy to see if he was already as engorged as he himself was...

Ryo was completely rapt with the way the other was reading the book. He sat on the edge of his seat, practically watching the story come alive as the other read. This was great! It was really different from how Oki read to him, but still fun!

The story continued on, and Fukurou took no breaks at all as he read. He addapted his voice to the differnt characters and put the intonations to bring the fear to life, reading through almost half of the roughly 1000 page novel before Kitsi finally made his presence known again, biting Fukurou's ear... It was lunch time, and Fukurou had to look after his feathered friends...
"Well," he said making a mental note of the page and closing the book. "It seems I am in need of preparing a lunch for my friends here... It was good to sit down and read for a little bit..." Fukurou slid the book across to Ryo, wondering what he would do with it...

Ryo loved every moment of being read to, looking disappointed that the story had stopped. "Aw too bad, that's an awesome story!" He hesitantly took the book that the other offered him, looking down at it like he wasn't entirely sure what to do with it.

Fukurou watched. "Will you be continuing on your own?" he asked, still not moving, even though the barn owl was starting to look even more and more impatiant...

Ryo frowned down at the book. He cracked it open and quickly scanned the words. Oh god there was no way he'd be able to read this. "Maybe I'll try..." He really wanted to find out what happened next though. He could always try and see how far he could get.

Fukurou seemed to study him. "Well... I'm sure you need to eat. And I usually take at least one day of the week to train my brain instead of my body, so... I think I could continue reading after lunch... We could just check the book out..."

"Really?" Ryo brightened at that. He did really want to find out what happened in the story. Even better if he didn't have to struggle though it himself.

Fukurou nodded and moved his head in the direction of the checkout desk. He brought the book up and presented his library card with pride and the librarian stamped the book for them...

Ryo was at least familiar with how to check out books. Oki had made sure he'd been given a card in hopes to encourage the boy to read more on his own. He hadn't exactly used it much sadly. He was impressed though, at just how easy it was to take a book.
