There was something about December, despite the cold, that Oki loved. Perhaps it was the picturesque way the snow had fallen on the village, or maybe it was the lights and the brightly coloured decorations. Whatever it was, it flooded her with a sense of well-being as her boots crunched in the snow.
Finding herself with some downtime, Oki decided to take advantage of it and get out into the cool, crisp air. Suoh had left that morning to play hockey, and skating seemed like just the thing. She had pulled on the jacket she had worn on her mission in Thunder Country, a warm pair of boots and mittens, and had set out with her skates slung over her shoulder.

Ryo loved winter. Absolutely -loved- it. There was nothing better than cool air and snow on the ground. These days he spent most of his time with some sort of training, but on a day like this, he couldn't help himself and had to get out and play.
It was with a huge grin on his face that he found himself a frozen pond and was sliding across the icy surface. -This- was why he liked winter the best. For moments like this.

Oki made her way to the lake. It had frozen solid and had been divided up into two skating areas, snowbanks serving to separate the two. One half had been designated for casual skaters while the other half had been dominated by a very rowdy game of hockey. Oki smiled, scanning the game for her brother and spotting him quickly; he was easily the smallest of the players in terms of body size, but he made up for it in pure aggression. As she watched, he violently body checked Kiba and the two fell bodily into a snowbank.
Boys will be boys, she sighed, shaking her head and sitting down to put on her own skates.

Ryo wasn't wearing a pair of skates, but that didn't matter. Sliding around on shoes was still too much fun. He hit a rough patch of ice, felt his balance start to go, and let himself fall over completely. He lay on the ice laughing and staring up at the blue sky, watching his breath puff.

Skates laced, Oki moved her boots back away from the edge of the ice and carefully stood up. Since first learning to skate five years ago, she had improved in leaps and bounds but she still found getting started tricky. When her feet didn't slide out from under her, she set out gliding on the ice. Down at the far end of the lake, away from the other skaters, she spotted a familiar mass of blue hair which was presumably attached to an equally familiar body which would be sprawled out on the ice and she made her way toward it.

Ryo lay on the ice, looking up at the sky, not ready to move again yet. He took a deep breath of the cold air and relaxed as he exhaled. He wasn't supposed to be at the Academy right now, but everything was so perfect out here he probably wouldn't have cared.
He smiled as he was watching a cloud float by and a familiar face slid into her periphery. He beamed up at the face, grin spread accross his whole face. "Hi!"

Oki laughed, looking down at Ryo. "Hi! You need a hand up, or are you just gonna lay there for a while?"

Ryo giggled. "I was going to stay here for a while, but I could get up~" He pushed himself up into a sitting position, smiling up at her.

Oki smiled and held out her hands to him. "Here, then. Let me help you up. Where are your skates, Ryo?"

"Thanks!" Ryo gladly took her hand so she could help pull him up. He shook his head at the question. "Don't have any." He took a running step and slid on the ice. "This is more fun anyway!" He chirped happily.

Oki laughed at his enthusiasm and calmly skated along behind him. "So long as you're having fun, then."

Ryo turned around and smiled over his shoulder at her. "Of course~ Why else would I be out here?" He laughed, spinning on the ice.

"Fresh air and healthy exercise?" Oki teased, but it was light hearted. "Good to see your enjoying your break. How's school going, Ryo?"

"I get that every day!" Ryo grinned widely. "It's soooo good not to have to go to class tho!" He'd been enjoying taking those classes less and less so the break was nice.

"Breaks are always nice, I used to look forward to them too. But then I'd be anxious to get back to class because I'd end up bored. Somehow, though, I doubt you're going to have the same problem."
