The surface of the water rippled, slowing down just enough for Cirrus to drag himself out.
"Whoo, that's fast!" he exclaimed, several hundred meters from where he had first dove in. "And cold"

must you always dive before you look.
she said starting to walk down the side of the bank in the direction the water was flowing.

"It's more fun that way," Cirrus grinned, brushing his wet hair out of his face. "What, you weren't worried about me, were you?" he teased.

no, I was more worried about the fish. Seeing you jumping in on them might scare them to death.
She said as she started to push her way through some bushes on her way down stream.

Cirrus laughed.
"Nah, they're not that sensitive. There were only a couple that I saw anyway. There's probably a waterfall at the end of this, is that what you're looking for?" he asked, trying to avoid branches getting whackd back at him as Akira walked through the brush.

And her voice cut off as she walked off the cliff, not being able to see the gound ending through the bushes. There was a waterfall and it was huge.

"Akira!" Cirrus cried out, diving after her, trying to grapple the back of her shirt. His voice was lost over the loud roaring of the water.

You Idiot.
Akira said as they both fell.
What good is it going to do if we both get killed.
It was a very long fall so they had a few seconds to argue before crashing to there death.

Cirrus didn't reply and grabbed Akira, wrapping his arms and legs around her and pulling her close to him. It was going to take an immense amount of chakra to control water flowing so fast at such high volumes, but Cirrus figured they didn't have much to lose. With a few hand seals, a strip of the waterfall separated itself from the main downflow, arching out almost like a slide under them. The force of the water hitting hurt, but it was at least partially slowing them down and diverting them to crash into the water below, which had a better survival probability than the hard ground.
"Hang onto me tightly and don't let go!" Cirrus yelled out, curling around Akira. The underwater currents would be vicious down there, and it would take a lot of effort to not get ripped away from each other.

Akira was impressed by Cirrus's quick thinking. She held onto him but just before hitting the water she flipped them around so that she took the blunt force of hitting the water rather then him. It hurt. Her grip on him was lost as the pain shot threw her and the current pulled them apart.

"Akir---" The rest was drowned out by them hitting the water. Cirrus went spinning around in the wild current under the surface, trying to keep Akira in sight as she was separated from him.
A lot of his chakra had been expended with the waterfall slide, but Cirrus did his best to channel it out so that the water around him was slightly calmer, but only just bearably so. He focused his energy on trying to get to Akira before the currents completely drew them away from each other.

With Akira being so small the water was able to beat her around pretty good. She was gonig to be easily swept away but smashed hard into a rock. This also really hurt but she was able to grab hold of this rock. She was drowning and trying hard to get her head above the surface.

Cirrus saw Akira clinging to the rock and fought against the current to get to her. He finally got slammed into her, clinging onto both her and the rock. He could see that she was reaching her limit with holding her breath and knew the wouldn't make it to the surface on time. He funneled the last of his available chakra into pushing the water away from Akira's face, forming a small air pocket where she could hopefully get at least a small breath of air to last her the trip to the surface. Unfortunately, Cirrus felt so weak now he wasn't sure if he could swim up to the surface.

Akira lost what air she still had in her lungs with Cirrus crashed into her. SHe was about to pass out when Cirrus fored and small air bubble. She sucked it in and grabbed onto him with one hand and started dragging him to he surface as she fought againest the forceful water beating on her back. Her chest hurt from holding her breath and her whole body hurt from getting beat around but she had to get him to the surface.

Cirrus kicked his legs weakly, hardly doing anything, but every little bit counted when it came to saving their lives. The surface felt so close, yet so far away. This was the first time in Cirrus' life that the water around him felt like a prison. If he had any more chakra left, he could've pushed the water up under them to get them there faster, but digging into that much chakra after using so much would most certainly kill him.
