"I will run what interference I can, but I make no promises. She may distract me with cheesecake and then you'll be on your own. If she's match making, maybe she won't be trying to feed you," Oki teased.

"Is cheesecake the key to a woman's heart?" Yuki teased...
"So what if it's you she's playing matchmaker for... Maybe you shouldn't be left alone with poor ol' Mrs. Harmony," he continued to tease...

Oki seemed to think for a moment. "Cheesecake or chocolate, yeah. It's pretty simple, really. Maybe a back rub... And Mrs. Harmony doesn't scare me! I have become crafty in the ways of avoiding match-making, and for all the trouble she'd go to, she'd do better just to give me a stick to beat people off with."

Yuki reached into the barrow and offered Oki a 2x4. "Just please, watch the face... I don't want anyone to know I got beat by a girl..."

Oki laughed and took the 2x4, trying to hold it threateningly but failing. The smile took all the menace out of her, so she handed it back. "I may be exaggerating, but Mrs. Harmony doesn't need to know that. I'm sure she'll be busy enough trying to plan your wedding to try and plan for mine, too."

Yuki raised one eyebrow as he looked at her. "Might be easier than you think with Mrs. Harmony... She thought you were very pretty, and when she heard you were single... Well... You were very specifically requested today... But I'm glad you know what you want... Just don't pay much attention to her if you can help it..."

Oki waved off Yuki's concern. "I don't mind, honestly! It might be nice to be the center of that kind of fuss for a while, and if it means you can work in peace then all the better." Oki frowned slightly. "She asked for me specifically?"

Yuki nodded. "You can bet she's got something up her sleeve..." He shrugged, "either that, or this is an incredibly over-complicated way of asking you to go on another date with me," he said trying to re-lighten the mood...

Oki laughed. "You know, I wouldn't put it past you Yuki. You never were one for doing things the easy way."

"Hey," Yuki defended, "You already gave the 2x4 back... No grabbing it again now that you've discovered my master plan!" But he couldn't say it with a straight face...

Oki simply rolled her eyes and shook her head. Her hair, which was left loose, rippled lightly down her back with the movement.
"You should really try flowers next time. Or candy."

Yuki smiled - even if this wasn't part of his plan, he was certainly up to something...
"Nah... That sort of thing is overrated... It would never work on a girl of your calibre..."

Oki made a small dismissive noise in the back of her throat. "Oh yeah... Like I have a calibre!I'm just a girl, like any other. The hair and eyes don't mean a thing."

Yuki smiled at her, and quite genuinely said, "no, not just like any other. Not you..."
They were coming to the end of the road that opened up into the valley, and Mrs. Harmony's resturant was now within view...

Oki blushed deeply but said nothing. She was glad to see the bistro coming in to view; it gave her something to focus on besides the burning sensation in her face and neck. She nervously tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
