Oki bit her lip. She remembered, she just hadn't thought of it until he mentioned it. She didn't know if she could do that again, not now.
"Right," she said softly and beginning to blush as her teacher demeanor began to slip. "Maybe we should stay away from that..."

Yuki stuck his wrists in the pool water, that was still quite warm from the last time Oki had been here, to melt the ice rather than just arching his wrists and shattering Oki's ribbon. "For now... That's probably best..."
With his hands still tied, Yuki reached up and brushed back Oki's hair that had fallen into her face after she took the ribbon out. "Oki... I appreciate it, but you don't have to be here," he said softly, offering to let her leave. He knew she wasn't ready to be around him again yet...

"No it... it's fine, Yuki. You need someone to help you learn this technique, and Ebisu must think that I'm up to the challenge. Try again when you're ready."

Yuki looked at her steadily... "Ok," he said after a moment.
He pulled his hands back from Oki's face, and rested them in his lap. He took a deep breath, once again closed his eyes and concentrated. It was no good though, and all he did was end up turning the ribbon into a solid block of ice around his wrists again...

Oki sighed. "You're still focusing the chakra in a familiar way, which is freezing your bonds. Try and think outside the box, Yuki. I'd offer to show you, but it's really not going to help you much at this point."

Yuki put his hands back into the water, melting the ice quickly once more... He was thinking about what Oki was saying... "So... Don't force my chakra through the ropes... but sepperate them?" he asked... He sounded, at least, like he was on to something...

Oki nodded. "Send it along the ribbon into the knot to separate it. Don't force anything, it shouldn't need that."

Yuki nodded. He watched what he was doing this time, and this time, no ice formed. The ribbon strained itself. It seperated from his skin as if it was being forced away. Then the knot loosened with force. If it had been a sturdier material, it would have simply snapped. There was chakra coating every inch of the material, and like two equally charged ends of a magnet, was forcing it away from itself...

Oki smiled and nodded. "That's more like it! See if you can get the knot to completely undo itself."

Yuki shrugged his head to one side and forced more chakra down to the strands. It flew apart, but not at the knot... He'd just ruined Oki's hair tie... "Oh... Sorry Oki..." he said holding up the three strands of what had been her hair tie earlier...

Oki reached out to take the shredded ribbons, her fingers lightly brushing Yuki's and she laughed. "No worries. It's not like there aren't more where these came from. But you did it!"

Yuki laughed. "I doubt I did it right," he said, his eyes following Oki's hands. His mind was only partially on the training, but at least he wasn't trying to show off anymore. He was keeping his promise of only being himself, for himself now...
"Up there, in the training grounds that day we ran into each other... I was working on a technique to force objects away from me with chakra. You know, for when I cross the veil I can leave people behind if they're clinging to me, or... So I can implant an object behind a wall or anything like that... I just did that... I made the rope seperate from the other strands of itself... That's not what you're trying to get me to do I don't think..."

"Not quite," Oki conceded. "But it's a step in the right direction and it doesn't involve ice which, by the way," she added with a scowl, "I should have left you hog tied for offer to teach to Ryo."

Yuki's eyes widened for a second, but a smile creased his lips. "What? The kid has spunk... He wants to learn, and he seems determined..." Yuki grinned. "How's his chakra control coming along, Teach?"

"Haven't even started it yet! Ryo has a hard enough time paying attention in class now, and my hands are full enough without having to worry about students freezing my clothes. I'd like to see him make friends with the boys in the class through other means, preferably not by giving them a show when I catch a chill..."
