Yuki gave her a quizical look. "I haven't been part of the ANBU in probably closer to five, if not more," he said. "I'm out here because I have to recover from the surgery and take things slow as far as the vocal jutsus go..."

Lenore frowned to herself. Thinking carefully, she tried to remember what she'd been told before she left. old information, obviously. She tried to sift back, but there was so much between then and there, and here and now. She put her fingers to the bridge of her nose and sighed, rubbing gently for a moment before letting her hand drop. "Sorry," She explained. "My mind.... is convoluted...." She shrugged, as though pushing the thought away. "Anything I can help with?"

"You already did," Yuki said with a small smirk. "The ventrilliquism. It was about the most simple voice jutsu I know, and it was painful... So that's it. I need more rest before I get back to it..."

Lenore gave another grimace, looking up apologetically at Yuki but saying nothing. She nodded, and looked back down at Pishka, her mind whirling as she stroked the fur on the back of the cat's neck. After a few moments, she looked up at him again, a pleasant look on her face but no smile. "Glad I could help" She offered.
She stood again, and for a moment her leg shook before she locked her knee, and she appraised the carcass of her companion's most recent meal. Naught but bones littered the grown at her feet, and Pishka chewed contentedly on one of the bones.
"I suppose I should get back to situating myself. I wonder who lives in my house now. I can't imagine it's stood empty for long. I kind of hate that I had to be gone all that time." She rubbed at her chin for a moment, gazing back towards the neighborhood rooftops visible in the distance. "Walk you back?"

Yuki nodded. "There are empty rooms at the barracks. Especially since the last... episode... I seem to have the entire d-block to myself due to some... water jutsu damage... Anyway..." Yuki didn't say much more on the subject and mornfully picked up and shouldered his gear bag to head back in. Maybe in another few days...

Lenore raised an eyebrow at Yuki's back, slightly confused for a moment before the making of the skating rink was recalled to her memory. She gave a light chuckle and followed Yuki out of the field.
She watched Yuki'sback, the way he held himself. She could tell he was unhappy about something. He seemed down, and she felt the urge to reach out and pat his shoulder, but ruthlessly suppressed the urge. She walked with him in silence for a bit, her hands in her pockets, enjoying the feel of the sun. As the light glittered off of her, her skin glowed lighter than before, and she hunched her shoulders, keeping her eyes down.
After a few moments, she dug the kunai out of her pouch again, spinning it on one finger as she fell into thought. For a long time, she walked silently beside Yuki, letting the quiet wash over them as she probed her memories for clues.
"Hungry?" She asked suddenly.

Yuki shrugged. "I could eat," he said. "Don't feel like you have to walk on egg shells, you can talk to me you know. What's on your mind?"

Lenore chuckled again, shaking her head. "No eggshells, sir. Just want to feed you." She nudged Yuki's arm and pointed to a street angling off from the one they traveled, and leading into the market stalls of the merchant district. "Many things have happened while I was away, and my memory is clouded. No worse than Kaliri fared, I fear." She shrugged in an almost-nonchalant way. She grabbed at one of her pockets, gauging, and then continued as though without a care in the world. She whistled, held her head up, and stuck her hands in her pockets, but her eyes still locked on the ground, the lids covering most of them. her step was still heavy, and the tune she whistled faltered often, sometimes breaking completely for a few moments before she remembered it again.

"Is that fatigue or memory?" Yuki asked, mainly about the way she was carrying herself, but about the tune as well. He might not be able to mimmic it after her surgery, but he did have perfect pitch...

Lenore raised an eyebrow, shrugging her shoulders slightly before relenting her expression. For a moment, complete defeat crossed over her face and her shoulders slumped.
"A little of each, I think." She admitted, letting another wry smile pull up at the corner of her mouth. "It feels like I was gone much longer than I was..."
She pushed her other emotions down ruthlessly, and cleared her throat. Taking a deep breath, she pursed her lips and let the whistle push through, weaving a mildly convoluted tune. As the whistling died away, she grinned again, and continued walking a short ways.
"I can remember it, when I'm concentrating, I suppose." She grinned sheepishly.

"Some days can seem like hours, and some hours like days," Yuki said a bit philosophically...
"Was there a particular restraunt that you were expecting to go to?" Yuki asked as they walked. "I think a good hot meal and a tea would do you the world of good..."

Lenore laughed, nodding her head, then shrugged noncommittally. "Just food. Don't have any specific expectations right now. Too tired, and been away too long to expect anything specific."
She mused for a moment, brushing her knuckles along underneath her chin. Finally, she asked "How old are ninja, when they discover their ability to use Jutsu? Typically, I mean." She frowned at the ground, hoping she didn't give too much away.

Yuki thought about it for a moment. "Typically? Well, I guess there are two answers to that question. Typically, a ninja will discover their ability to use chakra and form jutsus roughly by the age of four, sometimes five. We begin training at three, of course. To discover an affinity for a particular jutsu - like my sound jutsus and ice, I guess that's closer to eight or nine... Why do you ask?"

Lenore hesitated for a moment, then pinched lightly at Yuki's belt, tugging ever so slightly and gesturing to an alleyway where she quickly ducked in a moment later. She paused, looking down at the ground, and pulled the kunai out of her pouch again. Quickly, she scraped a few interconnecting lines in the dirt, then stuck the small knife into the ground in the center of the drawing. Removing the black ribbon from her hair, she tied it to the end of the weapon, allowing the other end to trail away across the dirt. She dropped into a sitting position, and closed her eyes. She rested her hands on the ground for a moment, but then brought her fists together in the air in front of her, side by side. This did her little good, of course, because her eyes were closed and she could not see them. She waited patiently until Yuki was stationary before proceeding.

Yuki stood in front of her and watched. He wasn't entirely sure what he was watching, but mildly sure that if he stood and remained silent he would find out shortly. It must have to do with some sort of jutsu he was assuming...
